HOW WE LEARN

Reasoning is part of the work.

Try a useful idea, make your thinking visible, and revise when you learn something new.

Our problem-solving routine

  1. Find a way in. Restate the problem and try a simple case.
  2. Organize. Use a table, diagram, number line, or equation.
  3. Look for structure. Notice patterns and relationships.
  4. Explain and revise. Check your solution and show why it works.

AoPS problem sets

Work over time in class with teacher support. Begin with a serious attempt, record useful false starts, and ask a focused question when you get stuck.

Success includes persistence, clear reasoning, good questions, and growing independence.

ASSESSMENT IS PART OF LEARNING

Notice. Revisit. Explain. Apply.

An assessment gives us evidence for the next step. Students identify a strength, revisit a problem, explain their reasoning, and try a related problem independently. Then they choose a specific action to prepare for the next assessment.

Grade 6 uses a guided reflection and correction routine; eligible corrections may earn partial credit under the teacher’s current school policy. Grades 7 and 8 complete a separate reflection and mathematical-analysis assignment while the original assessment score stays unchanged.
